Different type of ETL tools?

Some of the commercially available ETL tools include:
  • Informatica PowerCenter- This is one of the Enterprise Data Integration products developed by Informatica Corporation. It is an ETL tool used for extracting data from the source, transforming and loading data in to the target.
    • The Extraction part involves understanding, analyzing and cleaning of the source data.
    • Transformation part involves cleaning of the data more precisely and modifying the data as per the business requirements.
    • The loading part involves assigning the dimensional keys and loading into the warehouse.
  • IBM DatastageI is an ETL tool and part of the IBM Information Platforms Solutions suite and IBM InfoSphere. It uses a graphical notation to construct data integration solutions and is available in various versions such as the Server Edition, the Enterprise Edition, and the MVS Edition.
  • MicrostrategyMicroStrategy is an enterprise business intelligence (BI) application software vendor. The MicroStrategy platform supports interactive dashboards, scorecards, highly formatted reports, ad hoc query, thresholds and alerts, and automated report distribution. Interfaces include web, desktop (for developers) and Microsoft Office integration. MicroStrategy Mobile also supports mobile BI.
  • Oracle Data Integrator (ODI)-It is an Extract, load and transform (ELT) tool produced by Oracle that offers a graphical environment to build, manage and maintain data integration processes in business intelligence systems.
  • Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)- Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) is a platform for building high performance data integration solutions, including extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) packages for data warehousing. SSIS includes graphical tools and wizards for building and debugging packages; tasks for performing workflow functions such as FTP operations, executing SQL statements, and sending e-mail messages; data sources and destinations for extracting and loading data; transformations for cleaning, aggregating, merging, and copying data; a management service, the Integration Services service for administering package execution and storage; and application programming interfaces (APIs) for programming the Integration Services object model.
  • Kettle (Pentaho Data Integration)- Data Integration (or Kettle) delivers powerful extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) capabilities, using a groundbreaking, metadata-driven approach.
  • Talend- Talend is an open source software vendor that provides data integrationdata managemententerprise application integration and big data software and services.
  • SAP Business Objects Data Services-  SAP Data Services delivers a single enterprise-class solution for data integration, data quality, data profiling, and text data processing that allows you to integrate, transform, improve, and deliver trusted data to critical business processes.
All above mentioned ETL tools are Enterprise versions, except Talend and Kettle are available in both version as community and Enterprise versions.
